WHEN SAFETY MATTERS, BEST CHANCE MUST NOT TREAT IT AS ORDINARY ADMIN
Safeguarding
Best Chance works with families who may describe serious risk, abuse, neglect, exploitation, or an urgent child or adult safety concern, so this page sets out clear boundaries and what happens next.
1. Immediate danger
If a child or adult is in immediate danger, call 999. For urgent help that is not a 999 emergency, you can call 111 or contact your local council’s children’s services. Best Chance is not an emergency service and cannot respond to a live safety risk.
2. What Best Chance can do
Once immediate safety has been addressed, Best Chance can help you organise non-emergency evidence, questions, a chronology of events, and next steps.
3. Community and public content
Stories, comments and submissions are moderated before anything is published, so identifying or harmful safeguarding information is never shared casually.
4. How the team responds
When a team member sees a safeguarding disclosure, they follow a defined process to record the concern and escalate it internally.
5. Young people
Where young people take part directly, participation carries age-appropriate privacy, consent and safeguarding controls.
6. Keeping this policy accurate
This safeguarding policy and the emergency information above are reviewed by a safeguarding specialist and kept in line with how Best Chance actually operates.
